Description: This cute little baby bonnet works up very quickly. The chain loops on the bottom edge add extra fancy to the piece.
Level: Easy (sc, hdc, working in the rnd)
Size: 14" circumference
Materials:
Gauge: 3 ½ hdc=1" on larger hook
Abbreviations: beg- beginning; ch- chain; hdc- half double crochet; rep- repeat; rnd- round; sc- single crochet; sl st- slip stitch
INSTRUCTIONS
Note: You will work in a spiral, rather than joining each rnd with a sl st. Move the marker up after each rnd to mark beg of new rnd.
Ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in 2nd ch st from hook. Do not join with a sl st. Place marker for beg of rnd. [8 sc]
Rnd 2: Work 2 hdc in each sc around. [16 hdc]
Rnd 3: *Work hdc in next hdc, work 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * to end of rnd. [24 hdc]
Row 4: * Work 2 hdc in next hdc, work hdc in each of next 2 hdc; rep from * to end of rnd. [32 hdc]
Row 5: *Work hdc in each of next 3 hdc, work 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * to end of rnd. [40 hdc]
Rnd 6: Work hdc in each hdc.
Rnd 7: *Work 2 hdc in next hdc, work hdc in each of next 4 hdc; rep from * to end of rnd. [48 hdc]
Work hdc in each hdc for 7 rnds. Change to smaller hook and work 1 more rnd of hdc. Work 1 rnd of sc.
Loop Rnd: *Work sc in next sc, ch 3, skip 1 sc; rep from * to end of rnd. [24 loops made.] Join with sl st and fasten off.
Tie: Make a 28" chain. Weave in and out of holes, 2 rnds above the edge, and tie in a bow.
Weave in all ends.
