Crystal Palace Yarns - FREE PATTERN - Crochet

Cuddles

Brimmed Crocheted Hat

Designed by Yine Hing

Description:  This wide-brimmed hat is crocheted with a small hook to produce a dense fabric.  Mold the brim down for a comfortable gardening hat, or curl up the side edges for a Western look.  You can make a taller hat by working the even sc rounds for longer than 3", and you can also make a shorter brim by stopping when brim reaches desired width.  Size is determined by hook size.

Level:  Easy-Intermediate (sc, increasing and dense crochet)

Size:  S (M, L, XL)

Materials:

  • 3-50g balls Crystal Palace Cuddles (shown in #7005 "Denim Blues")
  • Crystal Palace Bamboo Crochet Hook D, E F or G, depending on hat size, or size needed for desired gauge
  • Slitted stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge:

  • 4 sts=1" over sc on G hook for 24" hat (shown in 6122 "Chestnut")
  • 4¼ sts=1" over sc on F hook for ~22½" hat
  • 4½ sts=1" over sc on E hook for ~21½" hat (shown in  7005 "Denim Blues")
  • 4¾ sts=1" over sc on D hook for ~20¼" hat

Note:  The larger-sized hats will be slightly looser than the smaller-sized hats.
