INSTRUCTIONS FOR COWL (SCARF)
With color A, cast on 135 sts. Knit one row.
Rows 1-4: Knit. Do not cut yarn.
Row 5: With Nubbles, purl, pulling “nubs” to front and holding them there as the row is worked. Cut Nubbles, leaving a 10” tail.
Row 6: Return to the beginning of the row just completed and with color A, Knit.
Rows 7-9: Knit. Cut yarn, leaving a 10” tail.
Change to color B and work rows 1-9 once more, then repeat with Color A and B once more.
Each time color is changed, leave 10” tail to incorporate into fringe.
End by working two additional rows color B. Bind off loosely.
Pocket: With color B, pick up and knit 22 sts along top of cowl. Following striping pattern, work two color B stripes and two color A stripes. Continue with color A until 20 garter ridges have been worked. Bind off. Fold and sew bound-off edge to top of cowl strip, forming a pocket.
Cut 20” lengths of remaining Allegro and Nubbles to incorporate into fringe. Trim evenly.
The cowl is worn loosely around the neck, pulling the fringed end through the pocket. A shawl pin can be used to hold the cowl in place.
