Heel Stitch Mitts

Description:  The Heel Stitch is a slipped-stitch rib pattern that is often used to make a sturdy heel when making socks.  But it is also great worked a little looser for warm and cozy accessories, like these fingerless mitts.  These short hand warmers work up quickly and take only one 50-gram skein to make.

Level: Advanced Beginner / Intermediate

Size:  Adult Medium (8" circumference x 6.5" tall)

Materials: 

Gauge:  5 sts = 1" over Heel Stitch pattern on larger needles

Abbreviations:  BO- bind off; CO- cast on; k- knit; m1- make 1 stitch (pull band of yarn on row below between stitch just worked and next stitch and slip onto left needle, knit into back of this stitch to make a new stitch); p- purl; p2sso- pass the 2 slipped stitches over the stitch just knit; rnd- round; sl- slip; sl2tog k-wise- slip 2 stitches as if to knit them together; st(s)- stitch(es); yo- yarn over
