Gauge: 3 sts=1" over St st
Abbreviations: BO- bind off; CO- cast on; k- knit; p- purl; RS- right side; St st- stockinette stitch; rev St st – reverse stockinette stitch; st(s)-stitches
INSTRUCTIONS
Note 1: Do not break yarn when changing colors and end of rows. Before starting rows on end of scarf where colors change, carry the color not in use up the edge by wrapping it once around the color that is in use. This will produce a tidy right-hand edge.
With Color A, CO 100 sts using a loose cast on method. Work 2 rows in
garter st.
Change to Color B, work 4 rows of St st
Change to Color A, work 4 rows of garter st.
Change to Color B: work 4 rows of Rev St st (purl side facing front)
Change to Color A: work 4 rows of garter st.
Change to Color B: work 4 rows of St st.
Change to Color A: work 4 rows of garter st.
Change to Color B: work 4 rows of Rev. St st.
Change to Color A: work 4 rows of garter st.
Change to Color B: work 4 rows of St st.
Change to Color A: work 2 rows of garter st.
Bind off LOOSELY (use a size 10 or 11 needle to bind off).
Note 2: for a lengthwise knit scarf, a too-tight binding off will cause the scarf to bow/curve.
Wet and roll in towel. Lay flat to block and spread the finished scarf.
