Description:  This delightful crocheted shawl will add elegance to any affair.  It features a mesh body with a fancy, lace border.

Level: Intermediate (sc, dc, working in loops)

Size:  50" long x 20" high

Materials: 

• 2 skeins of Crystal Palace Panda Pearl (shown in 7033 "Mars Red")
• Crystal Palace Bamboo Crochet Hook, size F-5

Gauge:  3 ch-5 loops = 3.5"

Abbreviations:  ch- chain; dc- double crochet; sc- single crochet; sl st- slip stitch

 

V st:  (dc, ch 2, dc) in same space

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Ch 6, join with sl st to form ring.

 

Row 1:  Ch 1, sc in ring (ch 5, sc in ring) 3 times,  ch 3, dc in ring, (4 loops).  Ch 5, turn.

 

Row 2:  Sc in loop at base of turning ch, (ch 5, sc in next ch-5 loop, ch 3, sc in same loop) twice, ch 5,sc in next ch-5 loop, ch 3, dc in same loop.   (7 loops).Ch 5, turn.

           

Row 3:  Sc in loop at base of turning ch, (ch 5, sc in next loop) to last loop, ch 3, dc in same loop. (8 loops).  Ch 5, turn.

 

Row 4:  Repeat row 3 (9 loops).Ch 5, turn.

 

Row 5 (Increase row):  Sc in loop at base of turning ch, *ch 5, sc in next loop, (ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 3, sc in same loop).*Repeat between * twice more (ch 5, sc in next ch-5 loop) twice, ch 3, dc in same loop (13 loops).  Ch 5, turn.

 

Rows 6-8:  Repeat row 3 (16 loops).  Ch 5, turn.

 

Row 9 (Increase row):  Sc in loop at base of turning ch, *(Ch 5, sc in next loop) twice, (ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 3, sc in same loop).*Repeat between * 3 times more, (ch 5, sc in next loop) 3 times, ch 3, dc in same loop (21 loops).  Ch 5, turn.

 

Rows 10-11:  Repeat row 3 (23 loops).Ch 5, turn.

 

Row 12: Sc in loop at base of turning ch, *(ch 5, sc in next loop) twice, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 3,   sc in same loop.*   Repeat between * twice more, (ch 5, sc in next loop) 3 times, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 3, sc in same loop, *(ch 5, sc in next loop) twice, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 3, dc in same loop.* Repeat between * (30 loops).Ch 5, turn.

 

Rows 13-16:  Repeat row 3.  (34 loops).  Ch 5, turn.

Rows 18-21:  Repeat row 3 (46 loops).

 

Row 22:  Sc in loop at base of turning ch.  *(Ch 5, sc in next loop) 4 times, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 3, sc in same loop.*Repeat between * 8 times more, (ch 5, sc in next loop) 4 times, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 3, dc in same loop.(55 loops).  Ch 5, turn.

 

Rows 23-25:  Repeat row 3 (58 loops).  Ch 5, turn.

 

Row 26:  Sc in loop at base of turning ch, *5 dc in next sc, sc in next ch-5 sp.*  Repeat between * to last loop, ch 3, dc in same loop.(57 shells).  Ch 5, turn.

 

Row 27:  Sc in loop at base of turning ch, *(ch 5, sc in third dc of next shell) to last shell, ch 5, sc in last loop, ch 3, dc in same loop (60 loops).  Ch 5, turn.

 

Row 28:  Repeat row 3 (61 loops).   Ch 5, turn. 

 

Row 29:  Sc in loop at base of turning ch, 2 sc in same loop, *(6 sc in next loop) twice, 5 dc in next loop.*  Repeat between * to last loop, end last repeat 3 sc in last loop.  Ch 1, turn.

 

Row 30:  Sc in first 5 sc, *ch 4, skip 4 sc, V st in sp following 4th sc, skip 4 sc, sc in next 9 sc.*  Repeat between * to last long V st, vh 4, skip 4 sc, sc in last 5 sc.Ch 1, turn.

 

Row 31:  Sc in ea of next 4 sc, *ch 5, dc in nexct dc, ch 2, V st in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in next 7 sc.*Repeat between *, ending skip 1 sc, sc in ea of last 4 sc.  Ch 1, turn.

 

Row 32:  Sc in first 3 sc, *ch 5, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, V st in next ch-2 sp, (ch 2, dc in next dc) twice, ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in next 5 sc.*  Repeat between * ending last repeat skip 1 sc, sc in last 3 sc.Ch 1, turn.

 

Row 33:  Sc in ea of first 2 sc, *ch 5, dc in next dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc) twice, ch 2, V st in next ch-2 sp, (ch 2, dc in next dc) 3 times, ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in ea of next 3 sc.*repeat between * ending last repeat skip 1 sc, sc in ea of last 2 sc.Ch 1, turn.

 

Row 34:  Sc in first sc, *ch 5, sc in next dc, (ch 3, sc in next dc) 7 times, ch 5, skip  1 sc, sc in next sc.*  Repeat between *, ending last repeat ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in last sc.    Fasten off.  Weave in ends.
