Description: This pattern can be made into a cowl or scarf. Dropped yarn-over stitches form the wave-like pattern, with eyelet accent row and garter rows in between. Panda Pearl is silky smooth and very comfortable to wear around the neck.
Level: Easy (garter st, k2tog, yo's, dropping yo's)
Size: 6½" wide x 23" circumference for cowl or 36" long for scarf
Materials:
Gauge: 4.25 sts= 1" in garter st
Abbreviations: garter st- knit every row when working flat; K- knit; k2tog- knit 2 together; sl 1- slip 1 stitch; st(s)- stitch(es); tog- together; yo- yarn over (take yarn over top of needle into knitting position, thus making a st); WYIF- with yarn in front
INSTRUCTIONS
Notes: Slip sts WYIF
Drop yo’s off needle on row following Rows 4 and 12.
Pull down gently on dropped yo’s a few rows after completion to even out sts.
CO 30 sts.
Rows: 1, 2 and 3: sl 1, k
Row 4: sl 1, k7, (yo 1 time, k1, yo 2 times, k1, yo 3 times, k1, yo 2 times, k1, yo 1 time, k6) twice, k2. [Drop yo's made here while knitting Row 5]
Rows 5, 6 and 7: sl 1, k across
Row 8: sl 1, k1, *yo, k2tog; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2 (Do NOT drop yo's on Row 9.)
Rows 9, 10, and 11: sl 1, k across
Row 12: sl 1, k2, (yo 1 time, k1, yo 2 times, k1, yo 3 times, k1, yo 2 times, k1, yo 1 time, k6) three times, ending last rep k3 instead of k6 [Drop yo's made here while knitting Row 1]
Rep Rows 1-12 until piece measures ~23" for cowl or 36" for scarf, ending with a Row 3.
BO. Sew seam if making the cowl version. Weave in ends.
