"Berkeley in the Sixties" QuiltHoffman Challenge quilt by Susan C. DrudingMy "Berkeley in the 60s" quilt was done in a very folky art style using the flag challenge fabric for the Hoffman Challenge. I cut freehand without using rulers for the most part. I was very surprised that it was accepted since it was very different from anything else I saw in the traveling exhibits of Hoffman pieces! I paper pieced the "picket signs" with slogans I remembered from Berkeley in the 1960s when I often marched in anti-War protests and was involved in the Free Speech Movement in 1964.
