Description:  This cowl matches the Pyramid Lace Scarf and Pyramid Lace Fingerless Gloves.

Level:  Intermediate

Size:  30" circumference x 8" high

Materials: 

• 2 skeins of Crystal Palace Allegro Aran (shown in #9086 Lavender)
• Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles:  26" circular in US size 9, or size needed for gauge
• Tapestry needle

Gauge:  1 repeat of *K3, P2, P3 tog, P2, K3* = 2"

Abbreviations:  K- knit; P- purl; P3 tog- purl 3 stitches together to decrease by 2, RS- right side (outside of garment); WS- wrong side (underside of garment); yo- yarn over

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Cast on 168 sts and join, taking care not to twist sts.Work 1 round seed st (K1, P1).

 

Note: On the rows requiring placement of a new marker, remove the original marker when proceeding with the next round.

 

Round 1:          *K3, P2, P3 tog, P2, K3, yo, K1, yo.*

 

Round 2:          K3, *P5, K9* all around, ending last repeat K 5, put on new marker.

 

Round 3:          *K4 (removing first marker), P1, P3 tog, P1, K4, yo, K1, yo.*

 

Round 4:          K4, *P3, K11* ending last repeat K 6, put on new marker.

 

Round 5:          *K5, P3 tog, K5, yo, K1, yo.*

 

Round 6:          K5, *P1, K13* end last repeat K 7, put on new marker.

 

Repeat these 6 rounds six times. Begin decreasing as follows:

 

Round 1:  *K1, ssk, P2, P3 tog, P2, K2 tog, K1, yo, K1, yo.*

 

Round 2:  K2, *P5, K7*, end last repeat K to 1 st before marker, put on new marker.

 

Round 3:  *K3, P1, P3 tog, P1, K3, yo, K1, yo.*

 

Round 4:  K3, *P3, K9* ending last repeat K5, place new marker.

 

Round 5:  K4, P3tog, K4, yo, K1, yo,* end K5.

 

Round 6-7:  Knit all around.

 

Round 8:  Purl

 

Round 9-10:  Knit

 

Bind off loosely. 

Note: Recommended Bind-Off Method: K2tog Bind-Off  (also called the Decrease Bind-Off).  This will produce an elastic edge.

 

Soak completely in luke-warm water and pin flat to block.
